Solar Sunday at Glaubenberg
On August 10th we were finally able to hold our postponed Solar Sunday. We met at the large parking lot at Berghotel Langis, Glaubenberg, where perfect weather gave us the chance to observe and image the Sun together. After setting up the telescopes, our board member Rafael guided the workshop, starting with an introduction to safe solar observing. Participants learned how to build a simple solar filter from Astrosolar film, and we also practiced different methods of polar aligning a mount during daytime. Everyone had the opportunity to try different setups – from H-alpha observations with impressive prominences to white-light imaging of sunspots. Those without their own telescope could look through different instruments and pick up tips from the more experienced members. Of course, there was also plenty of time to exchange ideas, have technical discussions, and simply enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Swiss Alps. A big thank you to Rafael and to everyone who joined and helped make this workshop a success! We are already looking forward to the next Solar Sunday.
